The Manhattan Guidebook (www.manhattanguidebook.com) is about New York City – Manhattan and the outer boroughs. Call it the words from the streets from real New Yorkers. How we see things about the city we call home. The places, the things, the real news. We are 5th Avenue, the Heights, the Village – both East and West. The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island – and every alley within. We are Wall Street and we are ghetto fab. We are rich, we are poor, we are everything in between. Opinions? Yeah we got em – and loudly. We are not afraid to call out what’s wrong with our city, our country – or the world. We have different beliefs, and come from all walks of life, and have no problem defending them. Some were born here in New York City, some scrapped their way to get here, but one way or another we all became real New Yorkers. And we don’t have to tell everybody that we are New Yorkers (like Alex Rodriguez or Madonna!) – people know. From the way we speak, the way we walk, and the way we talk – New York City.

Every nation in the world is represented here, as is every race, religion creed and culture. In New York city you can have an Irish Breakfast, Argentinian Lunch, and a real Italian dinner – sometimes without even leaving the same block. We in New York City see the best of things – and the worst, as well as some things that even make us say WTF! We at the Manhattan Guidebook strive for the same.

We can be rude, obnoxious, loud, crazy and we run a million miles an hour. On the other hand we can be some of the nicest people you ever meet. Yes, even to tourists. Manhattan, and New York City welcomes you from all points of the globe, but that does not mean we always tolerate your pace very well. Within our Tourists sections we will try to give you tips and pointers to make your visit and stay in New York exactly what you are looking for. You may think you know us from what you see on television, but tv – even reality tv – does not tell the real story about New York City. If you – as a tourist – come to visit, hook up with a real New Yorker, they’ll show you the ropes. At minimum, if you can’t, read the Manhattan Guidebook daily to get the real feel of whats going on from real New Yorkers.

What the Manhattan Guidebook is not

We are not some news rag run by some giant corporate entity. We are as grass roots, streetcorner, curbside dirty water hot dog stand as it comes – a separate division of our Parent Company – NYC Technical Support Services, Inc.

Manhattan Guidebook does not have any particular political affiliation or leaning. You will find everything here in New York City – and this is the case with The Manhattan Guidebook as well. As far as our writers, well…they may, and will have at times strong political or other leanings. And we happily tell them to express their views and opinions – based on the facts, where this is possible. Honestly, at times you should hear the discussions amongst ourselves – especially in reference to our New York Sports Teams! We let our writers knowthat if they think something should be called out, so be it. On the flipside, if you the reader feel the need to make a comment to the contrary of what our writers say – go ahead, bang it out. Discussion, debate and sometimes an all out arguement might be necessary and needed to clear the air a bit over some issues. Certain things will not be tolerated within our pages however. These things are:

  • Explicit language – comments will be monitored, and any explicit language will be modified.
  • Racial or hate charged language – falls under the same umbrella as above.
  • Spam – Not bad fried, but does not belong here. Sling it somewhere else. Links back to your site are permitted, as long as you are saying something of value to the discussion at hand.
  • Any comment, which in our sole discretion is so far out or stupid, it would make us look ridiculous to allow public display of said comment! We do have to draw some lines.

Further, we are not responsible for any comment made which is fraudulent, slanderous or the like. We will however do our best to help any legal authority identify the writer of said comments with a properly presented warrant.

Further, within our classifieds section – which is currently completely free to post classifieds under 100′s of categories – we have separate policy statements, as well as Terms & conditions of use. For those, click here: Classifieds

The Manhattan Guidebook may at times have ads for certain New York City based businesses, as well as businesses online and Brick/mortar that are paid advertisements posted as articles. Where we do this – will will let you know at the end of the article that we have been compensated, or may be compensated for the article. This is outside of our Local Business Directory – which is currently completely free to list any New York City based business.

Further, on various pages of The Manhattan Guidebook there may be banner ads, link ads and the like for various companies with which we are affiliated. As in any affiliate agreement, we may be compensated by the site owner or link provider based on action (click of the link, purchase of an item) or view of the ad.

As any New Yorker knows – the only thing constant about New York City is change, and we reserve the right to alter, modify and otherwise change the layout, form or style of The Manhatan Guidebook as we deem necessary.

Beyond that – we welcome you to The Manhattan Guidebook – your guide to Manhattan – and NYC.
